Los Angeles
I open my doors on a Saturday morning and I see Los Angeles. The sun is gleaming through the clouds, birds are singing, and the trees glow with a vibrant green. The air is light and breezy, relaxing, like living near a beach. I start to walk down the block; going downhill makes the walk easy, brisk, and smooth. The tunes of LA play in my head; other’s car radios, music blasting from the Northridge park, car doors slam shut as happy families climb out to enjoy a sunny day. I stop at the corner and wait for the light, the chlorine smell is thick from the local pool. Children are screaming, laughing, flirting, an ice cream man pulls his cart. The light turns green, I begin to walk brisk and easy in the morning LA air. There is nobody at the bus stop, I sit alone and admire the weather, the freedom, the peace of a Saturday in LA. I can see the bus moving from far away, getting closer and closer. I take a few deep breaths of fresh air, laziness creeping over me as the sun bakes my muscles into relaxation. I get to the bus, fascinated by all the different people I see. I sit and enjoy the shaky ride, looking out into LA from the transparent glass of the bus window. LA is sunny, relaxing, peaceful, paradise, LA is me in the form of a city. Laid back, chill, slow. I get off the bus and walk a few steps before I dig my hand into my pocket and pull out 27$, I smile and thank God that I have spending money today. I stop walking when I reach “Golden Apple Comics”, my grin shows that I am truly a nerd and I’m happy about it. I walk in with a smile and leave with a smile, along with two issues of “Ultimate Spiderman”. LA knows what I love, knows my personality, and adapts- this is the life, this is LA to me.
