"Facebook in a crowd" Summary

The narrator of this article is a man named Hal Niedzviecki, and the society in the article is the facebook community. Hal tells the story of when he decided to have a party and invite all of his friends on facebook to come and join him. Hal had 700 friends on facebook and got a lot of mixed reactions, some said they would definetly be there, others said they might be there. In the end, only one person came and it was an akward chat between the two, and in the end, Hal is drinking alone with 700 facebook friends who didnt show up to his party. This article shows that society is becoming too reliant on social networking systems like facebook, and are forgetting real, physical communication with others. This point of view allows us to see how these networking societies are effecting us in a negative way.
